WS_FTP is a popular FTP program for Windows 95/98/NTXP. These are screen shots from the PRO version of WS_FTP, which you can get from
Specify an inital remote directory as public_ html under the Startup tab. You don't have to fill out anything else on the other tabs.
This is the main screen of the WS_FTP PRO interface: The left pane represents the local hard drive. The right pane represents the remote server. To transfer files, highlight them and click on the appropriate arrow between the two panes. Files can be transfered in ASCII (text) or Binary (images) mode by selecting the radio button below the two panes. The Auto check box doesn't do anything unless you have configured some file types in the Options. To setup new sessions (to different FTP servers) you click on the Connect button on the lower left. (This screen also appears when you first run the program.) Here's how to set it up to upload to Momentum Online's Web servers:
WS_FTP Sites Click on the New button.
New Site/Folder Select FTP Site and fill in the Name.
Host Name The Host Name or IP Address should be ftpl.moment.net
Logon Information Fill in the User ID and Password and check the Save Password box.
If you want to specify an start up directory on the local machine you can do so by selecting the new site from the Sites screen and clicking on the Properties button. The setting is on the Startup tab. If you did not specify an Inital Local Folder you may need to browse to the correct directory on the local machine once the connection is established. If you get an error that states "503 NO > PORT command given". Go to Advanced and uncheck Passive transfers.
