The Equation of Life

John 8:31 "So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, 'If you abide in my WORD--hold fast to my teachings and live in accordance with them--you are truly My disciples. 32. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 1:1 "In the beginning (before all time) was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.  2. He was present originally with God. 3.  All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without him was not even one thing made that has come into being. 4. In him was Life and the Life was the Light of men."

 1 John 4:8 "He who does not love has not become acquainted with God -- does not and never did know Him; for God is love.  9. This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."

WORD, in the Greek, is two words:
1. LOGOS, or the eternal unchanging Word
2. RHEMA, a personal spoken Word or counsel to an individual at a specific time for a particular situation. 

Matthew1:4, "Jesus ansered, 'It is written 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word (Rhema) that comres from the mouth of God."

        Living through JESUS, which is obtaining the TRUTH or light and holding to his teaching (being a disciple), is done through the HOLY SPIRIT, who is our comforter and teacher and who gives us Rhemas as we attend to him in prayer and follow in obedience.  Most often, the Logos is made living in us as a Rhema which we receive and obey.
      Study of the Logos is important, but it is of little effect when we do not seek, listen to, and walk in the Rhemas which the Holy Spirit speaks to us.  The difference is that of being a doer of the Word, as opposed to being a hearer only.
