November Song

November sings of hearth fires,
Smoke ascending like a prayer.
Harvest’s plenty on the table.
All the kinfolk gathered there.

Hillsides wear a harvest hue.
Crispness fills the air.
Forest critters pack their dens
With stores enough to share.

Winter storms are coming,
But our hearts have not a care.
Here at home, we’re happy
Thanksgiving’s in the air.

We count our many blessings
And sing our songs of praise
With turkey in the oven
Our glasses we will raise.

Gather with us ‘round the table
Share the bounty and the love
Give to each, as you are able,
Empowered from above.

A Thanksgiving Prayer
By Maryella Vause

Thank you, Lord, with grateful hearts,
For hope and freedom's song,
For life and love and home.
For your hand of mercy
For generations come and gone.

Thank you, Lord, for family and food,
For health and friends with laughter
For songs to sing at night,
For hopes and dreams within us,
For your Spirit's guiding light
